NAIOP Edmonton was proud to work alongside the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce, REALTORS Association of Edmonton, Edmonton Construction Association, BILD Edmonton Metro, BOMA Edmonton North, and Alberta’s Minister of Municipal Affairs, the Honourable Dan Williams, in co-signing a joint letter to Mayor Andrew Knack and Edmonton City Council advocating for a phased return of municipal employees to in-person work in the downtown core.
In-person work strengthens collaboration and workplace culture while helping break down departmental silos through more frequent communication, spontaneous idea sharing, improved customer service, and stronger cross-functional teamwork.
Prioritizing a return to office for City of Edmonton staff would also have a meaningful impact on the strength and vibrancy of the downtown core, directly supporting both municipal and provincial economic development priorities.
Just as importantly, it would position the City as a leader in downtown revitalization, sending a clear signal to industry, investors, and the broader business community that Edmonton is committed to the success of its core. Demonstrating this leadership helps reinforce economic development goals that helps to build the confidence needed to attract, retain, and grow investment in downtown Edmonton beyond tourism & residential initiatives.
NAIOP Edmonton appreciates the opportunity to work alongside fellow industry and business leaders in advocating for policies that support economic vitality, a healthy downtown ecosystem, and the continued growth of Edmonton’s commercial real estate sector.
